Bonobo has this habit of Trojan Horse-ing a truly beautiful, quiet, heart-touching song into an album of danceable bangers. First, it was “Stay the Same” on his 2010 album Black Sands, then “First Fires” on The North Borders, and now it’s “Youth’s Fountain”.

The driving drums combined with Nilüfer Yanya’s understated, almost monotone vocals work so well together. It was really the lyrics that got me, though, just that refrain: “Did you try everything?” That one line could be in the running for “least number of words that conjures the most images in my head”.
